My large-scale abstract paintings begin with acrylic skins—sheets of dried pigment that I tear, layer, and collage onto canvas, building surfaces that carry the memory of their own making. In Ruptured, coral and crimson forms push against fields of saturated teal, creating a visual tension between containment and release. The work emerges through an intuitive dialogue between material and gesture: poured passages pool and settle while torn skins interrupt and overlay, leaving edges that feel both wounded and generative. Drawing from an ongoing exploration of body as landscape, the composition suggests interior states made visible—pressure, breath, the moment something gives way. What remains is a surface charged with physical history, where rupture becomes not an ending but an opening.
